Windows 7 on my PC – What do I need?

These are the system requirements that are needed on your PC to successfully run Windows 7:

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Windows 7: Additional requirements may be needed to use certain features:

Internet access (fees may apply)
Depending on your resolution, video playback may need extra memory and enhanced graphics hardware
Some Windows Media Center functionality may require a TV tuner and additional hardware
Windows Touch and Tablet PCs use specific hardware
A network and PCs running Windows 7 are needed for HomeGroup
Compatible optical drive required for DVD/CD authoring
BitLocker uses Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2
USB flash drive needed for BitLocker
Windows XP Mode will need an additional 1 GB of RAM, an estra 15 GB of available hard disk space, and a processor capable of hardware virtualization with Intel VT or AMD-V turned on
Audio output required for music and sound

Your system configuration will mean that production functionality and graphics may vary. Advanced or additional hardware may be required for some features.
