Windows 7 on my PC – What do I need?
These are the system requirements that are needed on your PC to successfully run Windows 7:
- 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
- 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Windows 7: Additional requirements may be needed to use certain features:
- Internet access (fees may apply)
- Depending on your resolution, video playback may need extra memory and enhanced graphics hardware
- Some Windows Media Center functionality may require a TV tuner and additional hardware
- Windows Touch and Tablet PCs use specific hardware
- A network and PCs running Windows 7 are needed for HomeGroup
- Compatible optical drive required for DVD/CD authoring
- BitLocker uses Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2
- USB flash drive needed for BitLocker
- Windows XP Mode will need an additional 1 GB of RAM, an estra 15 GB of available hard disk space, and a processor capable of hardware virtualization with Intel VT or AMD-V turned on
- Audio output required for music and sound
Your system configuration will mean that production functionality and graphics may vary. Advanced or additional hardware may be required for some features.
